Fall always holds a special place in my heart. As the air cools and the days dim, I get reflective and the air seems full of magic. I could spend paragraphs waxing poetic and still not be able to touch upon those ineffable feelings that Autumn brings. Instead, here are some of my favorite places to visit in fall.

A journey to one of the stranger oreums to grace the island...
It's been awhile since my last post. Previously we explored the Queen of Oreums, Ddarabi Oreum. Today we will explore a little closer to home. Haksu Baui (학수바위), or Longevity Rock, is situated just a few kilometers northwest of Seogwiposi. Its distinct shape, mystical features, and relatively unknown status make it a great choice to explore.
Jeju is home to countless oreums (368 for those without imagination). These parasitic lava cones are offshoots of Jeju's primary volcanic activity. If Hallasan is the mother of Jeju, then the oreums are her children.
Hungry for something special? It seems on every street there are an overwhelming amount of restaurants in Seogwipo. Here are just a few favorites from myself and other locals.
Dombae Gogi @ Cheon Jit Gol 천짓골식당
There is something special about the taste of Jeju Pork. Growing up in America, I always loved bacon and pulled pork, but it wasn't until coming to Jeju that I became a true porkaholic.
At around 70 by 40 km, Jeju island is a sizable but compact island. Still, it is often large and overwhelming enough for visitors and those without a vehicle to miss out on some of the most interesting facets of the island.
Today on Journey Jeju we are traveling west to explore some well known and some more hidden wonders out West. We will start from Jungmun Beach and head out from there.
Tucked away on a quiet residential street in Dong Hong Dong is a new sushi restaurant. Osoi means slow food and this food is definitely best enjoyed savored.
The summer heat has reached its boiling point and it's time to cool down. Here are 10+1 great south side swimming spots to beat the heat. Most of these spots are along the Olle trails where you can find many more things to do as well!
2016 may just be the year of the Burger for Seogwipo. This year has already graced us with Hongdae's 9oz Burger in Shinsaegaji near Emart and 88 Burger near Dongmun rotary, and let's not forget Surf Bar Goofy Foot's classic burger in Jeju City.
Whether a long term resident or short time visitor, Jeju is filled with all sorts of natural, culinary, and cultural gems. Finding them can be the hard part. This map is a compilation of years of research based off my own personal insights and recommendations from other locals.
