The summer heat has reached its boiling point and it's time to cool down. Here are 10+1 great south side swimming spots to beat the heat. Most of these spots are along the Olle trails where you can find many more things to do as well!
Donnaeko
This mystical river has made its way on many lists before, and for good reason. The turquoise blue water cascades from picturesque waterfalls. Be aware this water is COLD!
This spot is very popular in the peak summer months. If the waterfall is crowded, try going up or down stream. Both ways are very different and equally stunning
Check the map below. If you don't have transportation, you can take the 782 bus (the one that goes over the mountain to Jeju city) and stop at the Seogwipo Industrial High School. From there you will need to go north up the road that intersects there and walk about a kilometer. Also, don't forget this is Korea, taxis are cheap! A taxi from town costs around 7000₩.
Som Ban Ne 솜반내
Right in the Northwest part of town, this meeting of two rivers is a great local spot for a stroll, swim, or picnic. Both sides of the road are nice and offer different scenery. There you can catch children at play and old men sipping soju.
The water is cold so this place is best enjoyed in summer. Following the river downstream leads througth the tranquil Geolmae Park before spilling down Cheonjiyeon Waterfall.
